Born in Imola on November 10, 1921.
A graduate in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Bologna, he devoted himself to painting from 1941. He attended the studios of the painters Della Volpe and Margotti in Imola and occasionally that of Giorgio Morandi in Bologna. He exhibited in national and international exhibitions from 1948, receiving awards and mentions. Raccagni's works can be found in public art galleries and private collections. He has won seven national competitions for public works with works in mosaic, bronze and painting. He has set up personal exhibitions in Bologna, Florence, Milan, Panna, Ferrara, Faenza, Forlì, Rome, Rimini, Ravenna, Imola, San Marino; Riccione, five of which were presented by Francesco Arcangeli and five by Renato Barilli.
In the academic year 1970-1971, a thesis entitled "Andrei Raccagni and the Imola environment" was discussed at the University of Bologna, while in 1971, again at the University of Bologna, Francesco Arcangeli granted the specialization thesis "Vitalism in Romagna, Baccarini, Boccioni, Moreni and Raccagni".
He has long been interested in poetry, receiving awards and mentions and publishing in 1952 the poem "Soldato", edited by Mario Spinella. Other works remain unpublished. He also became interested in art criticism by presenting exhibitions of artists and deepening the critical reasons for his work in "Liberi" (1958), in "A dynamic concept of modern realism" (1964), in "Erosesthetic behavior" (1969) , and in "Landscape behavior" (1970).
He has held countless conferences on art, and has been a professor of Contemporary Art at the "Open University" in Imola for several years. He published a volume of Art Education with the publishing house De Agostani, for which he edited the section on Art History. For his artistic production, he received the "Environment Award" in the summer of 1986 in Crodo (Novara). In 1987 he received the recognition "CIarus Magister 1987" in Lugano. In 1988 he was awarded the title of "Magister Preclarus 1988" in Lugano.
In February 2001, Vittorio Sgarbi in his television program La casa dell'anima, recalling the art critic and his master Francesco Arcangeli, extensively cited the production of Raccagni, showing a series of works chosen by him.
He died in 2005
