Era and style: First Empire (1805-15). Materials: Mahogany feather, chiseled and gilded bronze, scalloped Campan marble top (French Pyrenees). Exceptional center table, a typical example of the large guéridons, which were placed in the center of the rooms to architecturally divide the spaces. Destined for reception halls, they represent one of the highest achievements of the period's production and are characteristic of the Empire style. The influence of the Retour d'Egypte style, which characterized the Consulate after Napoleon's expedition to Egypt, is still strong in this piece of furniture.
