Emilian School of the 17th century, follower of Correggio. “Madonna with Baby Jesus”
Period: 17th century
Measurements: board cm 52x49 with a non-coeval frame cm 66x55.
The choice of colors, the drawing of the Madonna's face, the grace of the child and the execution of Jesus' head with well-designed curls with a golden marking, lead us to believe that this painting is by the hand of an artist who studied and imitated Correggio. Oil painting on poplar wood panel, examined under a black light, it shows some deep restorations, which have penalized the painting.
A cleaning and an adequate restoration by more experienced hands, would make the work more readable and increase its value.
