Mária Ráhmer (Mrs. László Hartmann) (Budapest, 1911 - Canada, 1998)
She wanted to be a dancer, but on the advice of her parents she studied fine arts. She began to practice the art of ceramics at the National School of Applied Arts, in the class of Dezso Orbán, between 1926 and 1929. She also studied in Germany and France, in Paris. In 1931 she opened her own workshop in Rákos street 1, in the 9th district. She exhibited regularly and appeared in almost all the most important exhibitions. In 1933 she moved her workshop to Személynök street 9-11, in the 5th district. In 1935 she obtained an honorary diploma and the gold medal at the Brussels International Exhibition. From 1939 to 1941 she opened a workshop in Paris. In 1949 she emigrated to France due to the worsening situation in Hungary. She lived in Paris where she taught ceramics. She moved to Canada at the request of her apprentices, where she actively participated in the local artistic life until her death.
