HORSES AND KNIGHTS AT THE SOURCE Follower of Pieter Bodding van Laer (1599-1642). Oil painting on clean and raked canvas. Measures: 58 x 76 cm. Pieter Bodding Van Laer (baptized on 14 December 1599 - 1641 or 1642 or later) Dutch painter and engraver. He has been active in Rome for over a decade and was known for genre scenes, paintings of animals and landscapes located around Rome. Pieter Van Laer was an active member of the association of Flemish and Dutch artists in Rome known as Bentvueghels. His nickname in this group ("folded name") was Il Bamboccio.
