Paris Manufacture, early 19th century, Tea Container
Period: Early 19th century
Polychrome Parisian porcelain from the early 19th century.
Measurements: h. 23 cm x diameter 14 cm.
This work is part of those satirical subjects, which during the Empire period were produced in France to make fun of the "haughty English". In this case, the satire targets the affected knights, who are depicted, in relief on the body of the vase, in ridiculous poses being unhorsed. On the lid, the knob is depicted by a statuette of a black man, according to the post-revolutionary dictates of the "Bon nègre". Perfect state of preservation.
